The San Jose SabreCats were one of the most successful teams in the history of the . Founded in 1995, the played 20 seasons, made 16 playoff appearances and appeared in the championship game, The Arena Bow, seven times. They won four of those. Despite their success, the SabreCats folded after the 2015 season for what the Arena Football League called "reasons unrelated to football operations." Many believe the teams owners were concerned about the long-term viability of the league.
