The Northern Kentucky Nightmare were members of American Indoor Football for the 2016 season. They were the successors to the Northern Kentucky River Monsters who played in Ultimate Indoor Football League (UIFL) and the Continental Football League (CIFL). Unlike the Monsters, the Nightmare played all its games on the road. The team folded, along with the rest of the league, after the 2016 season.
